Open Day at North Wilts was held on Saturday 6th May, after a change of date, as originally it was to take place on the 13th May but as Chippenham Town were holding their Open Day on that day it was decided to opt for the earlier date.
We were not disappointed as there was a steady trickle of people all day, quite a few were from the indoor section of the club, who wanted to try the outdoor green, but in many cases the indoor game was more attractive.
In all 30 people attended and from that we were able to run a five week coaching course for 12 players. These were held on Saturday mornings from
11am – 12.30pm and not once did the weather win, all five Saturdays were dry.
We now have six paid up new bowlers who are very keen to play, some of them have even entered the Club Novice competition.
They are all very keen and can play in the Monday evening club night, Mike organises a roll-up on Wednesday afternoon and the men can put their names down for Friday Tea and Biscuits.
We welcome them to North Wilts Bowls Club and hope that they will enjoy bowling at the Club – maybe there could be a future champion among them.
Finally I would like to thank all those who helped with the coaching, Sue Pitman, Geoff and Yvonne Taylor and Tony and Maureen Hulbert.
